Time Zooms Bye

Well its the end of the summer market season. We had originally planned on being at the last weekend market in anchorage this week but due to the joyous occasion of friends getting married we wont be maiking it. But you can still find our treats in all the usual locations and at our online store. the fair was a very successful venture for us and we had a blast doing it. Hoping to get a booth for the whole fair next year. There are big plans in the works for us and we will be expanding our market and trade show tour this winter so check back here and on facebook often for updates. hope summer was good for all of you. Dont forget to take a moment sunday and remember those that lost thier lives during the attacks ten years ago.

Where does the time go?

Just realized we hadn’t posted a blog since June so we thought that we would give you a quick update. We have been at the Saturday market every weekend this summer since it started this year. We really appriciate getting to meet all of you and your K9 family members. However it is State Fair time, and we will have to forgo the saturday market for the first weekend of the fair so that we can have our booth there. So come on out to the fair get a funnel cake for you and some treats for the pooch. We will have samples and a very special deal available only at our fair booth. Hope to see you all out there, we gotta get back to baking.

A Quick Update

Doggy Decadents has been very busy the last few months. In April we moved out of our location on Huffman Rd where we were co-located with PawPrince. We are now located in a larger wholesale bakery located in Eagle River. We are expanding our wholesale customer base and now have treats available at several locations around Anchorage. We still offer custom treats for your pooch, just email us and let us know what you would like to order. We recently launched the latest line of our treats, Bacon Cheddar Bits. these treats are made with the same wholesome ingrediants as our other treats and contain baked turkey bacon and cheddar cheese. Also, our online store is up and running so feel free to shop for our products from the comfort of your home all snuggled up with your k-9 companion. This summer in addition to all the moving expanding baking and networking, we will be at the saturday market selling our goodies. So come on out with the dog and sample some treats. You can also keep up on all our comings and goings on facebook, the link is located on our home page. Hope you all are having a great summer.

Keeping our dogs trim, fit, and healthy!

One of the many questions we get from people who first meet our dogs is “how come they’re not fat?”. Many automatically assume that just because we run a dog bakery and feed our dogs lots of gourmet treats, they are going to be incredibly large and obese. Thankfully we have not had this problem, and I don’t expect we ever will. By sticking to the basic principle of providing everything in moderation, our dogs have grown to become healthy, trim, and well fit. We love our dogs and are committed to providing them with the best of everything, which means they go for daily runs, eat well balanced meals of premium dog foods along with added supplements, are given tons of attention, and go for play-dates with other dogie friends. Of course they don’t jsut snack on biscuits all day, but they do get their fair share of daily treats, especially when testing out new experiments!

What is Carob? Who is Carob?

Peanut ButterCarob

I am often asked many questions about the safety of some of Doggy Decadents treats. These treats look like they have chocolate in them, and everyone knows that chocolate isn’t good for dogs. Well, these little chocolate chip look-a-likes are actually carob chips. Carob is a dog-safe alternative to chocolate and is actually very good for dogs and humans too. It is much healthier than chocolate because it is free of the allergenic and addictive effects of caffeine and contains much less fat. People, particularly vegetarians and healthy dieters, often substitute carob for chocolate. Maybe you might want to try out one of these decadent treats as a healthy alternative for your own desert tonight :) Now the other question still remains; who is Carob? Carob is a beautiful chocolate lab and the newest addition to our doggie family. People are always confused when they find out her name and have to ask twice to make sure they’ve herd it right. But Carob looks just like a carob; dark and rich in color, and as naturally sweet as can be!

Living it Up in Alaska

Bird RidgeBearBaldy 4 peek challenge4 peek challenge

Skipper and I took a break from baking last weekend and took part in the 1st annual 49th State 4 Peak Challenge. Four Mt. peaks , 7,400 feet up 7,400 feet down and about 14 miles, all in one day! There were about twenty people who came out to hike with us, but only about nine who completed all 4 peaks, Bird Ridge, Flattop, Baldy, and Bear Mt. Apart from baking, hiking is my favorite pastime and a great way to see the true Alaska.

Dog Jog 2010

Dog JogSkipper and I had a great time at the Dog Jog! I am extremely impressed with the turn out this year and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. There was probably just about every type of breed and mix :) Thank you to everyone that joined us to help support Friends of Pets!
